Restoring Nervous System Balance
“This is the most important work I have learned thus far in my bodywork career.” Tiffany Rodriquez, LMT
Depression and anxiety is an epidemic in our society and more people than ever are seeking relief from dysregulated physical and emotional symptoms not only through conventional medicine but also body centered approaches. Chronic stress, trauma, loss, uncertainty and everyday pressures can manifest in the body through tension, pain, fatigue and overwhelm. Our physical state significantly influences our mental wellbeing, affecting our mood, emotions, focus, and overall vitality. As practitioners, we are being called to understand and offer safe, effective tools that support the whole person.
I’ve come to see that depression and anxiety aren’t fixed, or”hard-wired” conditions – they are signals that something within us needs attention and care. When I was growing up, we were taught that the brain was a static, unchanging system. However, neuroscience now tells a different story: the brain is incredibly adaptable and capable of change through neuroplasticity. This understanding offers real hope- for healing, for growth, and for those seeking to return to a more balanced and vibrant state of being.

A Mindful Approach
This hands-on, experiential training provides a comprehensive, somatic framework for understanding and working with depression and anxiety. You’ll learn how to actively support nervous system regulation using evidence-based, body-centered practices that help relieve symptoms of depression and anxiety. This includes specific, hands-on massage techniques designed to restore balance to both the physical and emotional body by bringing the nervous system back into a regulated state. We work through the lens of Polyvagal Theory as a central concept that explains resilience and flexibility in the nervous system. We’ll explore the science behind depression and anxiety, including how the brain functions and why understanding conventional treatment approaches is important. The course also delves into emotional anatomy—how our bodies reflect and hold patterns shaped by thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. You’ll learn how mindfulness practices can help interrupt negative or looping thought patterns, and how grounding, movement-based, body-centered techniques can support a nervous system in distress and foster emotional regulation.

Hands-On Learning
You’ll gain practical, body-centered tools—breathwork, massage, reflexology, and acupressure—that support clients in feeling more regulated, embodied, and present. The course incorporates evidence-based mindfulness techniques and emphasizes a therapeutic approach rooted in compassion and non-judgment. These somatic practices engage the body’s natural capacity for self-regulation and restoration, offering a supportive complement to conventional care for individuals experiencing symptoms of depression and anxiety.
This hands-on and highly experiential training is designed with for the massage therapist, mental health professional, nurse, physician, yoga teacher or other health care professional to better understand the tools and latest research available for depression and anxiety. Because depression and anxiety affects a wide population of people, this training is open to anyone with an interest in the topic.
