The breath is the most accurate and instantaneous mirror for how we feel, think and live. It provides the opportunity to look at whether what we take in is nourishing and life giving or toxic and depleting. By consciously connecting with the breath through a safe and gentle process, we are updating feelings, thoughts and physical sensations to live with more happiness, ease and pleasure in life. Think of it as a re-boot to your body, mind and spirit when the system is sluggish or not functioning optimally.
Many people suffer from chronic ineffective breathing habits, contributing to unhealthy effects in the body and eventually leading to chronic health issues. Trauma, loss and stress can create a constriction around the diaphragm limiting how someone breaths as a result of the nervous system’s fight, flight and freeze response. Research is now showing that less oxygenation in the body can lead to disease.
Breathwork is a revolutionary approach to body-centered healing which can be used to release long-held trauma and chronic tension. You will learn skills to unwind from stressful habitual patterns and establish healthy ways of being. The benefits of breathwork can include:
- Reduced anxiety and depression
- Increased stress-resilience
- Feelings of more ease and flow in life
- Decreased physical pain
- Heightened intuitive insight
- Awakened presence and feeling uplifted
- Expanded sense of connection with others
In this training and retreat, we couple breath with sound healing. The foundation of sound healing is that everything in the universe is in a constant state of vibration, including every bone, tissue, organ and cell in our body. When we are in a state of sound health, all of our body parts are vibrating harmoniously at their optimal or resonant frequency. When our vibration is not in sync with our optimal frequency we can feel out of sorts, imbalanced and depleted. What we are going for through breath and sound healing is a resonant and healthy vibration in the body. It is in this state that we deepen our state of relaxation, reduce anxiety and tension, heighten awareness and get a boost to the immune system.
For massage therapists:
Breath is a significant part of a massage therapy session however isn’t part of the basic education in massage therapy training. Many therapists don’t know how to effectively work with the breath or educate their clients on how to breathe without chronic muscular constriction or holding patterns. We bring the breath to the center of attention and focus the awareness on breathing more effectively. This is a highly experiential training and open to anyone interested in the transformative nature of the breath. Massage therapists receive CE’s.
