FAQ’s

What is breathwork?

As we navigate this evolving and uncharted territory with the pandemic and uncertainty many are left with feelings of grief, loss and distress. Depression and anxiety are at all time high levels. The breathwork and meditative practices in this course work directly with the nervous system and provide skills and tools to find our way through the turbulence of this time.” Tracey J. Moon, LMBT

Most people don’t breathe properly due to stress, exhaustion, anxiety, depression and posture habits yet our breath is essential to living a happy and balanced life.  The breath is the most accurate and instantaneous mirror for how we feel, think and live.  By consciously connecting with the breath we regulate the nervous system and metabolize emotions in a more skillful way.  As we connect with the breath in this inspired way, we move towards more happiness in the heart, ease in the body and pleasure in life. Think of it as a reset to your body, mind and spirit moving more towards optimal mental, physical and spiritual health.  You will learn techniques that are restorative, freeing and enlivening.

The benefits of breathwork can include:  more clarity, reduced anxiety and depression, increased stress-resilience, increased energy, feelings of more ease and flow in life, decreased physical pain, heightened insight, awakened presence, expanded sense of connection with self and others.

What is sound healing?

other-offeringsEverything in the universe is in a constant state of vibration, including every bone, tissue, organ and cell in our body. When we are in a state of sound health, all of our body parts are vibrating harmoniously at their optimal or resonant frequency.  When our vibration is not in sync with our optimal frequency we can feel out of sorts, imbalanced and depleted.  This course incorporates toning, vocalization and sound meditations as a way to bring your vibration back into resonance.  Benefits include deeper states of relaxation, reduced anxiety and tension, and a boost to the immune system.  No previous experience with sound healing is necessary.

What are the accommodations like?

Accommodations are shared either with someone you know or if traveling alone, we pair you with a same-gendered roommate.   Bathrooms are also shared.   One single accommodation available for an additional fee (contact Sharon at sgnash66@gmail.com to reserve).

What meals are included?

Three meals daily beginning on Thursday for dinner and end at lunch on Sunday are included.  The Heartwood chefs provide you with a farm-to-table experience that is delicious, nutritious, and utilizes fresh, organic produce.  If you have any serious food restrictions, allergies or dietary needs, please let your facilitators know in advance.

Can I come in a day early?

Yes, when you register you will be able to add an additional night, checking in on Wednesday, March 29.  Meals are included beginning with dinner on Wednesday night and including breakfast and lunch on Thursday.  Cost is an additional $110 per person, including accommodations and meals.  Additional nights after the retreat on Sunday are not available at Heartwood.

Will there be time in the schedule for rest or hiking or massage?

Yes, we have deliberately created the retreat schedule so that it allows time for this.  Thai yoga massage, private yoga sessions, Reiki and hypnotherapy sessions are available onsite.
